Mass Effect 3 OST Released Early
If you've registered your Mass Effect 3 preorder with BioWare already, you should be able to download CD-quality *.wav files of the Mass Effect 3 OST a day earlier than the official release. Just visit your Profile > Your registered game content at the BioWare Social Network to get your download link. There are 23 tracks + 2 bonus tracks for Collector's Edition owners. You can also listen to the entire album over at stormage09's Youtube channel as well.
“Novum Initium” Benefit Album
Inon Zur, composer for both Dragon Age 1 and 2, posted about an 18-track benefit album entitled Novum Initium that has just been released, featuring new works by a roster of game music composers. It costs $10 (but you can choose to pay more), and the proceeds of this album go to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, which supports working musicians in need of financial assistance. The album features work by Inon Zur, Jack Wall and Sam Hulick (Mass Effect 1 and 2), Mark Griskey (Star Wars: The Old Republic) and many others. Sam Hulick, Mass Effect franchise composer extraordinaire, has recently made a few tracks (previously a part of a charity promotion, which is now over) available to download from his Bandcamp page for free for the remainder of the holidays. Tracks include the two songs from his B-Sides from Another Galaxy charity album, and "Shepard's Return". You have until January 1, 2012 to reap the fruits of this generosity!
London Philharmonic Orchestra: Greatest Video Game Music sale
Amazon.com currently has the Greatest Video Game Music (Amazon Bonus Track Edition) mp3 soundtrack, as interpreted by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, on sale for $3 (normally $18.50). Mass Effect 2's "Suicide Mission" orchestral reinterpretation appears as #15 on this 22-track list of distinguished greats. This introductory price is the November 7th daily mp3 deal, so if you like the cut of their jib, you better grab it asap.
