Double XP Weekends Approaching in SWTOR

To prepare for the upcoming release of Rise of the Hutt Cartel, the Bioware Houston team is unleashing a month a XP boosts on weekends for all players. If you're looking to get some alts to 50 before the expansion drops, this is a great opportunity to get some levels under their belts - as this promotion stacks with other XP boosts as well.

Courtney Woods made a community post in the forums today announcing the promotion:

Bolster your characters and advance to Level 50 quicker with first ever Double XP weekends as you prepare to continue your adventure in the first Digital Expansion: Rise of the Hutt Cartel, coming this Spring with 5 new levels and a brand new planet, Makeb! Starting Friday March 15th, all players will be able to log in to The Old Republic™ and receive twice the amount of XP every weekend until April 8, 2013. Don’t worry if you’ve already hit Level 50. Your Legacy XP will double too!

Eric Musco chimed in later with a more detailed expansion of the maths behind the promotion:

My understanding of the system is that all of our boosts will multiple from the new base of 200%, so now is the perfect time to get those Legacy perks and XP boosts. I will show you why.

Let's say you planned to level during the March to Makeb entirely through... Flashpoints.

200% base experience
+25% Flashpoint Boost
+30% Flashpoint Legacy perk

*THIS BONUS DOES NOT STACK WITH RESTED EXPERIENCE

In other words, on weekends the base XP gain will be twice its normal amount. As XP boosts are applied after the fact, the XP gain on those will be greater on top of the existing baseline boost (excluding rested boost).

The Double XP Weekends will kick off this Friday, the Ides of March, and will continue until the release of the expansion.
