Convention season is fast approaching, and with the next installment of Dragon Age in development, along with lingering questions over the direction of the Mass Effect franchise, speculation over what Bioware shows at these events could be an interesting activity for us over the summer. The guessing season starts in March, when Bioware team members Chris Priestly and Keith Hayward, along with the voices of both Sheps and Grunt, will appear at an anime convention in Atlanta, GA.
Bioware events at the convention include a panel with devs to discuss game production and the company, along with two panels featuring Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, the voices of Commander Shepard. GameInformer has a rundown of the relevant events here:
BioWare Industry Panel - Sunday, March 10 from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Join reps from BioWare, the Canadian company that has brought us great games like Baldur's Gate, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, and the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series, as they talk about the company, making games and more!
Stars of Mass Effect - Saturday, March 9 from 8:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Jennifer Hale, voice of female Commander Shepard and Mark Meer voice of make Commander Shepard will be joined by Chris Priestly, BioWare Live & Online Event Coordinator and Keith Hayward, Senior Mass Effect Level Designer for what is sure to be a packed panel!
Professional Voice Acting - Saturday, March 9 from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Join our celebrity panel of voice actors, including Brina Palencia (Mad Moxxi), Marianne Miller (Dragon Age: Warden's Fall), Jennifer Hale (Female Shepard) and Mark Meer (Commander Shepard)!
Steve Blum Q&A - Saturday, March 9 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Ask your questions to Steve Blum, one of the more prolific voice actors on the face of the planet! Steve is the voice of Tom from Toonami, Roger Smith from Big O, Amon from the Legend of Korra, Spike from Cowboy Bebop and hundreds more!
The Steve Blum Q&A may revolve mostly around his roles in Anime, as he has done roughly two-thirds of all gruff male voices in animated works to date (yes, that's totally accurate, you guys). However, having voiced Oghren from Dragon Age: Origins and Grunt from the Mass Effect series, he may discuss his work with Bioware at some point.
Also important to note is that there's no guarantee that Bioware will discuss the upcoming piece of Mass Effect 3, which appears to be the final piece to come for Shepard's part in the franchise. As the Examiner notes in another article, the timing of the convention and the likely (though as yet unannounced) launch window for this DLC is coincidental, as the team agree to join the convention in August of last year. Of course, if in fact they are close together, it is a likely possibility.
3-day passes are available for $30 currently, though registration with the website is required in order to find the order page. MomoCon will occur on March 8-10 in Atlanta, Georgia.
