Mass Effect…Papercrafts?

BioWare fans never cease to amaze. While going through the massive backlog of stories in my feed reader, I unearthed a small feature that pointed me in the direction of a few advanced papercrafts of Mass Effect characters. These were not the usual ez-bake Cubecraft stand ups I expected to see. Instead, I was staring at photos of intricate miniature statues that hardly looked like they were made of paper at all. The cincher is that, if you're feeling very crafty, these creators provided the paper templates for you to try your hand at making them yourself.

It gets a little more complicated than this.

Some of the papercraft template archive downloads contain *.pdo files, which are Pepakura Design Object files, viewable with the free Pepakura Viewer utility. These are all difficult papercrafts, so if you don't have any experience assembling paper models, these may be frustrating designs to start with.

Grunt

Grunt Paper Model by DaiShi

"Grunt from Mass Effect 2. The model is approximately scaled to Xenonray's ME2 paper models for consistency. Also included an M-920 Cain, Grunt must have the biggest and strongest weapon he can find."

Tali'Zorah

Tali'Zorah Paper Model by XenonRay

"This is a papercraft template of Tali in her Mass Effect 2 appearance. It's a 37MB RAR file which contains PDFs and PDOs to print from or use as references. 12 pages, 132 pieces (I think!) in total. She comes in 2 colour schemes and stands ~45cm tall."

Tali'Zorah Paper Model by GamePaper

"The model is divided into 10 parts, and you should be very careful when gluing the head and neck, respectively."

Mordun Solus

Mordin Solus Paper Model by XenonRay

"The very model of a scientist Salarian! Quite literally! 43MB RAR file containing PDO and PDF files to print from or reference. 18 pages and 211 parts. Included are Mordin in both his default and alternative 'loyalty' textures with both lined and lineless versions available."

Liara T'Soni

Liara T'Soni Paper Model by XenonRay

This is his 3rd Mass Effect 2 papercraft template, Liara T'Soni, based on her appearance from the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC. It's a 22MB RAR file which contains PDFs and PDOs to print from or use as references. 16 pages, 199 pieces in total including the optional Tempest SMG. Just one colour scheme for this one. Stands ~43.5cm tall.

Niftu Cal (Biotic God)

Niftu Cal (Volus) Paper Model by DaiShi

Niftu Cal (Volus) from Mass Effect 2. The model is approximately scaled to Xenonray's ME2 paper models for consistency.

Blood Dragon Armor

FemShep in Blood Dragon Armor by DaiShi

"The Blood Dragon Armor from Mass Effect 2 (DLC). The model is approximately scaled to Xenonray's ME2 paper models for consistency. For some reason the .pdo got corrupt if it contained the left hand. In the end, its template is contained in a separate .pdf. If u want to resize the model, use the invert pattern option in Pepakura Designer, on the right hand."

SSV Normanry SR1

SSV Normanry SR1 by DaiShi

"The SSV Normandy from Mass Effect, the most gorgeous spacecraft I've ever seen. I've used some wire to stabilize the engine pods, just under the nozzle joints and through the main body."

Tiny SSV Normanry by ThunderChildFTC

"I like small models, easier to find space for them on the shelf! I'm crazy about the Mass Effect Games, so obviously had to make a paper model of the SR1 Normandy."

Guns

M8 Avenger Rifle by Julius Perdana

"This is the first model that I release in 2011. Actually the model I did the first time is robot ED-209, but when I'm looking for the blueprint I found a photograph of M8 rifle Avenger from Mass Effect (Game). Then I immediately suspend ED-209 to make that awesome rifle paper model. This Paper model consists of 18 pages of A4, colored version first, then soon I also will publish the blank version. As usual the templates has never been tested, is likely to need a bit reinforcement. I recommend using paper 200 grams or more. Enjoy the templates :) ."

Thanks to GameInformer for pointing out DaiShi's great work, thereby leading me on a search that yielded all the rest.
